Born in 1979 in Busan, South Korea, Wonhee was professionally trained painting from 11 years old at the art institution also she attended Art High School (Kongyea) where she majored in watercolor painting. She later earned a fine arts degree in oil painting from Silla University. After teaching watercolor painting for three years, she enjoyed traveling countries.
It was during this time that she met her husband, a Kiwi, and the couple moved to Queenstown, New Zealand. Over the next few years, Her husband worked in the winter Olympic ski industry lived Russia Sochi, Switzerland. she was supporting husband and son while living foreign countries. Finally settling down in Lake Tekapo, Wonhee returned to her passion for painting and now expresses her experiences as an "alien" in foreign societies through her art. In her series of works, she shares her inner thoughts and life story visualized through images.
